Mae-Geri, Mawashi-Geri, gyaku-zuki is a dynamic combination sequence in martial arts that highlights the importance of fluidity and precision in transitioning between each technique. This sequence begins with Mae-Geri, a front kick aimed at the opponent’s midsection, which serves to set up the next move. Following this, the practitioner executes Mawashi-Geri, a low roundhouse kick targeting the iliotibial band on the outside of the opponent’s thigh. This kick is designed to disrupt the opponent’s balance and create an opening for the final strike. The sequence concludes with gyaku-zuki, an opposite punch delivered to the opponent’s face, capitalising on the distraction caused by the previous kicks. In partner-based training, it is crucial to prioritise safety by ensuring proper alignment, control, and communication with the partner to prevent injury.
